Death of Alliston man who was reported missing is a homicide: OPP

The death of an Alliston man who was reported missing last month has been ruled a homicide, OPP said in a news release on Friday.

The body of 24-year-old William Schernhammer was discovered in the area of 25 Sideroad in Adjala-Tosorontio on Jan. 25.

Police have said he was last seen alive in his hometown around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 12.

A suspect, a 25-year-old Adjala-Tosorontio man, was charged Jan. 21 with obstructing police and indignity to a dead body.

On Thursday, he was also charged with first-degree murder.

The suspect has been remanded into custody.

Nottawasaga OPP say their investigation is continuing.
