ALPR leads OPP to suspended driver in New Tecumseth

An automated licence plate recognition system zeroed in on a driver who was in breach of a probation order, according to Nottawasaga OPP.

The motorist was travelling on the 4th line in New Tecumseth on Wednesday when they were pulled over.

The 65-year-old male driver from Oakville was charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code - three counts
  • Driving while under suspension - three counts
  • failing to notify change of address
  • failing to have an insurance card

Police said the vehicle will be impounded for 45 days due to the driver's prohibition status.

The accused was released with a future court date.
