ALPR snares suspended driver in Elmvale

Police say the woman's licence had been suspended as a result of impaired driving

The Automated Licence Plate Reader system paid off for Huronia West OPP.

Police say the system alerted an officer to a suspended driver on Queen Street West in Elmvale.

A traffic stop was initiated and police determined the 38-year-old woman was the registered owner of the vehicle and that her driver's licence was suspended as a result of impaired driving.

Her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The woman was charged with driving while under suspension, failing to surrender a permit for the vehicle and having cannabis readily available.

Things went from bad to worse for the motorist.

She was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from South Simcoe Police and was further charged with uttering threats to cause death and mischief under $5,000.
