AMC theatres in the U.S. will soon adopt a three-tier pricing system.
That means moviegoers will pay a few extra bucks for the middle seats, which are considered the "preferred" tier.
The "value" tier are those awful ones in the front that cause neck issues but will be a bit cheaper.
Everything else, referred to as the "standard" tier, will remain the traditional ticket cost.
The ticket pricing initiative is called "Sightline" and will roll out to all AMC theatres in the U.S. by the end of 2023.
In a press release, AMC explains a seating map will show the adjusted prices, and Sightline will only be used on showings after 4 pm.
Customers who subscribe to the movie pass subscription program will not be charged extra for preferred seating.
These adjustments are only in the states, but it is likely other theatres will take notes if it does well.
