The Anne Street bridge will open to traffic on Friday, June 2, according to a website post by the City of Barrie.
The bridge in the area of Edgehill Drive and Donald Street was closed in May 2021 and was to have reopened at the end of 2022, but the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) says the project was delayed due to weather and other factors.
The MTO says the new bridge includes wider sidewalks and a wider bridge deck to improve traffic operations and active transportation, as well as improvements at the Anne/Edgehill and Anne/Donald intersections.
However, there is another bridge closure on the way.
Work on the Sunnidale Road new transmission watermain project will begin on Monday, June 5 and the road will be closed between Letitia Street and Wellington Street, which includes the bridge over Highway 400.
