Anti-Black racism rallies in Innisfil and in Orillia on Saturday

Innisfil rally is also to be a celebration of Black culture and Black-owned businesses

Calls for reform and justice are expected to be heard loud and clear at two anti-Black racism rallies in the region on Saturday.

The first is in Innisfil in the south parking lot at the Innisfil Recreational Complex from 1 to 3 p.m.

While organizers want people to remember George Floyd, the man killed at the hands of Minneapolis police, and to denounce racism in Canada, they have also opened this up as a celebration of Black culture, Black lives, as well as Black artists who will showcase their work, and there will also be representation from Black-owned businesses.

The other demonstration is at Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia beginning at 2 p.m.

Hosted by Justice for Black Lives, the group hopes more than 200 people will attend the event.
