(UPDATE) 67-year-old woman dies after apartment fire in Orillia

OPP, Fire Marshal probing apartment fire in Orillia

UPDATE (2:36 p.m.):

Orillia OPP say the 67-year-old woman who was sent to hospital from a Sunday night apartment fire has died.

OPP were dispatched to a complex at 21 Coldwater Road, near West Street North, for a fire on the fourth floor. 

Police say 28 units were evacuated and are being supported by North Simcoe Victim Services.

They say a 67-year-old woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

"The female was pronounced deceased at a local hospital a short time later," police stated. "The victim's name will not be released at this time."

The Fire Marshal, in conjunction with Orillia OPP and the Orillia Fire Department, is investigating.

A 67-year-old woman is in serious condition in hospital after an apartment fire Sunday night in Orillia.

Fire crews were called to the fourth floor of a building on Coldwater Street.

The OPP and Fire Marshal are investigating.
