Nottawasaga OPP have arrested six people in connection with a string of alleged arsons in Adjala-Tosorontio in July of 2024.

Around 1 a.m. on July 23, 2024, first responders were called to a residence on Orchid Crescent, where multiple unoccupied homes in new subdivisions were set afire. Fire crews were able to knock down the blaze

Police say two of the three suspects were wearing all black, and there is no description of the third person. They left the area in a white sedan heading south on Concession Road 8.

The investigation regarding the incident started in the fall.

Police from the Major Crime Unit, assisted by that of the Caledon detachment, OPP Central Region's regional support team, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the Highway Safety Division's Toronto and 407 detachments, executed six search warrants on Tuesday in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto and Tottenham, resulting in the arrest of six individuals.

Six individuals were arrested; four from Etobicoke, one from Toronto, and another from Mississauga. Their ages range from 21-years-old to 32-years-old.

All were charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and arson, and are set to appear in court in Bradford on January 22.

Criminal Code s. 434 - Arson — damage to property

Every person who intentionally or recklessly causes damage by fire or explosion to property that is not wholly owned by that person is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.

Criminal Code s. 465(1)(c) - Conspiracy

Except where otherwise expressly provided by law, the following provisions apply in respect of conspiracy: every one who conspires with any one to commit an indictable offence not provided for in paragraph (a) or (b) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to the same punishment as that to which an accused who is guilty of that offence would, on conviction, be liable.
