Arson investigation in Shanty Bay

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for the public’s help following a series of incidents on Monday evening in Shanty Bay. Orillia OPP responded to reports of a male suspect setting multiple fires around 8:15 near homes along Shanty Bay Road near Ridge Road West.

In addition to the fires, witnesses reported seeing the suspect wielding a knife and throwing a rock at a passing car.

A suspect has been taken into custody

Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone who saw the incident or interacted with the suspect to come forward.
