Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call at a Beachwood Road address in Wasaga Beach just before 6 p.m. Sunday where they found a person suffering from a serious injuries sustained from a weapon.
The individual was taken to a local hospital.
The suspect fled the scene but surrendered a short time later.
A 28-year-old from Wasaga Beach has been charged with aggravated assault, weapons dangerous and uttering threats to cause death.
The accused was held at the Huronia West OPP detachment pending a bail hearing.
Police said the name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Authorities added that they believe there is no risk to public safety as investigators do not consider this to be a random incident.
In a separate incident, around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a 911 call on Beach Drive in Wasaga Beach to provide aid to two people who were pepper sprayed by an unknown individual.
"While officers were responding, they received a second call from a different group who had also been pepper sprayed by the same individual," OPP said in a news release on Monday.
Police located the suspect and after a brief foot pursuit the person was arrested.
The 16-year-old accused, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with five counts of assault with a weapon.
The suspect is to appear in court in Collingwood at a future date.
