3-year-old Australian boy with autism found after three days lost in the woods

The child went missing from his rural home on Friday

A three-year-old boy, non-verbal with autism, who went missing from his parents rural home in Australia was found on Monday, three days after he disappeared.

Initially, his parents feared their child had been abducted.

Anthony “AJ” Elfalak was spotted by a police helicopter sitting in a shallow creek, cupping his hands with water to drink.

In footage shared by New South Wales Police, rescuers can be heard saying “I’ve got the boy”.

AJ was about 500 metres from his house, which is on a vast property in New South Wales.

More than 100 police officers and volunteers scoured the bush for the boy and had earlier passed over the area where he was eventually found.

AJ appeared to be healthy. He was taken to the hospital for observation.

Paramedics said the boy was hungry and dug into three slices of pizza and a banana.
