Wednesday is a grim anniversary for family and friends of Autumn Shaganash of Barrie.

June 12, 2023 marks one year since police first received information that she was missing.

"In the past year, Autumn Shaganash has been subject of numerous searches, a recent electronic billboard and transit bus campaign, and on February 8 of this year, the Barrie Police Service’s Board authorized a reward of up to $50,000 for information confirming her current whereabouts," according to a police news release.

Shaganash was 26-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

"When last seen on Saturday June 10, between 10:00 a.m. and noon hour near Sunnidale Park, she was wearing tan-coloured leggings, slip on Puma sandals, black hoodie and carrying a black and tan purse," the news release stated.

Video surveillance from a home in the area shows Shaganash walking with a man, and each of them is carrying a ski.

"The male was walking just ahead of her as they made their way towards the Barrie waterfront to watch an air show. Autumn never made it; as the friend, who has been interviewed by detectives, states at one point he looked back and Autumn was no longer following him. She just vanished into thin air, without a sound or cry for help, she was gone and never seen or heard from again," police said.

Investigators have also said that on June 10, her sister received a text message from Shaganash asking to be picked up. When her sister tried to respond to the message about three minutes later, her phone went to voicemail and appeared to have been turned off.

“Our Major Crime Unit and our detectives have never lost sight of our focus of reuniting Autumn with her family,” stated Sgt. Brett Carleton. “If you are someone who has information that can assist this investigation, I encourage you to call Barrie Police now – let’s work together to bring Autumn home.”
