Everyone on the set of the Barbie movie had to think pink.
The movie used so much of the happy colour that it caused a global shortage as it needed a huge amount of Rosco's fluorescent pink paint.
In a recent interview with Architectural Digest, director Greta Gerwig said they were literally creating the alternate universe of Barbie Land.
"Maintaining the 'kid-ness' was paramount, I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much." she said.
A spokesperson for Rosco Paints confirmed that the movie tapped their supply out of the colour, but other factors were at work.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, spokesperson Lauren Proud, explained that production coincided with wider global supply chain problems during the pandemic.
Extreme weather in Texas also affected vital materials used to create the paint.
"There was this shortage, and then we gave them everything we could — I don't know they can claim credit, but they did clean us out on paint." Proud explained.
