Barrie firefighters were called to a blaze around four Tuesday afternoon in a ninth-floor apartment at 90 Edgehill Drive.
A fire official says the lone person in the apartment was taken to the hospital by paramedics and their condition is unknown.
Crews are ventilating the ninth floor, according to the official, so tenants can go back inside their homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
