Barrie police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect regarding an assault investigation at a department store in the north end of the city.
Officers say the alleged assault happened on Saturday around 8:30 p.m.
"Police were made aware of the incident the following morning after the victim’s mother contacted the police and immediately commenced an investigation after learning that an unknown male approached the young female victim who was alone at the time in a shoe aisle of the Bayfield Street store," officers wrote in a release.
They say surveillance video was obtained and shows the suspect arriving at the store at 7:43 p.m. in a grey 2006-2010 Dodge Charger with black rims and a strip of window tint across the upper windshield.
"The suspect is then seen later in a shoe aisle where the assault took place and is described as male, white, in his late twenties to early thirties, with shoulder-length brown/orange hair that was worn in a bun and a brown/orange scruffy beard. He was wearing a Boston Red Socks baseball hat, a black hoodie with red writing on the torso, black cargo pants, black shoes, and black sunglasses," police say.
Officers say the suspect quickly left the store to the parking lot after the incident.
