Barrie BIA recognizing Downtown Heroes by highlighting donors and businesses who support essential workers

Downtown Heroes campaign recognizing all those wearing capes

The Downtown Barrie Business Association (Barrie BIA) is launching a program designed to recognize those who support frontline workers.

Called Downtown Heroes, the campaign recognizes the donors and small businesses that provide meals or services to essential workers. Everyone in the campaign takes a turn wearing a metaphorical cape; a donor providing funds to a local business is the first to don the cape, followed by the small business that packages meals or gift boxes for essential workers. And of course, there are the essential workers, who the BIA say have been wearing their capes the whole time.

To kick off the campaign, the BIA extended its thanks to Hayco Realty Advisors and the Hay Family for being the first to make a donation. Funds were divided between Grillicious Gourmet Tap and Grill, The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro, Philthy Philly’s Cheesesteaks and Poutinerie, and the Lazy Tulip Cafe. These local businesses then created lunches for essential workers and the residents of the Salvation Army in Downtown Barrie.
