The city is seeking community feedback to help shape a vibrant new future for Barrie’s central waterfront. Public consultation is now underway for the Centennial Park Food and Activity Hub, an initiative designed to support local food culture, enhance public access, and create new opportunities for community gathering at this key waterfront park. This project is the result of recommendations from the city’s 2023 Waterfront Strategic Plan.
“Centennial Park is a cherished community location,” says Michelle Banfield, Executive Director of Development Services. “Creating a new vision for this space as a food and activity hub will enhance the waterfront experience with high‑quality public design and year‑round programming.”
The city has developed two preliminary design concepts for the future Centennial Park Food and Activity Hub. Each concept proposes different ways of organizing the park space around three waterfront experiences: dance, dine, and play. Together, these themes will create a lively and welcoming destination that supports everyday park use while providing space for events, food, and activity.

Community feedback will help identify the preferred design concept. Residents are encouraged to review the two design proposals and complete a corresponding online survey (open until Friday, May 1, 2026), for the chance to win a prize. The design proposals and survey are available on the City’s community engagement platform at BuildingBarrie.ca/CentennialParkHub.
The city transitioned to a new community engagement platform on March 31, 2026. If you haven't logged into the website since the transition, you will need to reset your password.
