Barrie City Hall is reopening the East Bayfield Community Centre as it gets primed to offer even more recreation services.
The north end rec centre will be open as of September 8 and will join the Holly Community Centre and Allandale Recreation Centre in offering limited fitness options.
Residents and non-residents alike can make use of these facilities, including attending some fitness classes so long as it is booked in advance through the city’s website. Recreation memberships can be purchased at these facilities and those with recPASS memberships put on hold at the onset of the pandemic will finally be able to make use of it.
Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman made mention of this during his virtual COVID-19 update on Thursday.

It is expected the Eastview Arena will open September 12 for casual ice rental, and the ice facilities at Allandale Rec Centre will be available on the same day. Barrie City Hall hopes to be able to offer ice facilities at Sadlon Arena, Holly Community Centre, and East Bayfield Community Centre in October.
Some senior programming will resume at Allandale rec centre in the fall, while public rentals of the city’s community facilities is expected to resume mid-October. This includes the Southshore Centre and the Dorian Parker Centre.
The city’s Five Points Theatre and Georgian Theatre will remain closed through to January 2021.
