Man charged in pair of convenience store robberies in Barrie

Robberies happened less than 12 hours apart

A 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged in connection with robberies at two Circle K convenience stores in less than 12 hours.

Barrie police say around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, a man robbed a store on Bayfield Street at Wellington, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes, and grocery items.

Then, early Saturday morning, another Circle K was robbed, this time on Anne Str. South, just north of Cundles Road West. Again, the suspect made off with money, cigarettes, and other product.

Police determined the suspect in the robberies was the same person, and in each case, they were armed with an edged weapon.

Late Saturday afternoon, an officer on an unrelated call spotted the suspect downtown.

The man has been charged with two counts of robbery. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear next by video on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022.
