A Barrie police officer was injured with an edged weapon during an altercation with a suspect at a north end restaurant.
Around 1 p.m. on Sunday, police say they were notified of a weapons-related call involving a male with a knife at the McDonald's on Bayfield Street.
The male was located by police inside the restaurant, and as they were taking the suspect into custody outside the McDonald's, authorities say an officer sustained serious lacerations from an edged weapon. The officer was taken to a local hopsital where he was treated and has since been released.
A 39-year-old of no fixed address was tranported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continues.
Charges are pending, police added, and further details will be provided as the investigation permits.
