A 29-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving following a crash into a tree early Thursday morning.
Just after 12:30 a.m., Barrie police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Cundles Road West, between Burns Circle and Leacock Drive.
"Upon arrival at the scene, it was apparent to the officers that the involved motor vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree on the boulevard," police stated in a media release.

"The car sustained significant damage to the left front wheel well and tire area, but there were no reported injuries sustained by the driver. The driver, a 29-year-old male from Barrie, did however exhibit signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving."
Officers say they transported the accused to police headquarters to continue the investigation, where it was confirmed the driver was impaired by drugs.
He was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
A court date is scheduled for the end of August.
