An individual from Barrie is up on impaired driving charges following reports of a single-vehicle collision into a ditch in Oro-Medonte.
On Tuesday, August 16, shortly before 5:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in the ditch.
According to officers, the driver and a passenger were observed to be collecting their belongings, attempting to leave the area, and were believed to be intoxicated.
The occupants were located by OPP a short distance away, and the driver was arrested.
Police then transported the driver to the Orillia Detachment for further investigation.
The 26-year-old has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice Driver BAC - above zero
- Fail to Remain
The accused was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in Orillia court on August 30.
Their vehicle was impounded for seven days and license suspended for 90.
