Two people are up on a number of drug and firearms charges after a vehicle was parked in a "suspicious manner," police say.
On Sunday, around 6:40 a.m., Barrie police say they were advised of the parked vehicle on a side street north of Dunlop Street West and east of Eccles Street North.
The driver, a 35-year-old Brampton man was arrested for impaired operation by drug.
Officers say a quantity of suspected cocaine, a fully loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol, and a large amount of Canadian currency were located.
The passenger, a 40-year-old Barrie man, was also arrested for drug-related offences.
Both men were charged jointly with a slew of firearms, drug possession, and drug trafficking offences.
The two were held in custody and are scheduled for a bail hearing today.
"Barrie Police wish to thank the community member who called to advise of the manner in which this car was parked," officers stated in a release. "And as a result, has contributed to making Barrie safer today with a quantity of drugs and another illegal firearm being removed from our streets."
