A traffic stop turned into a drug bust in Barrie, according to police.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Friday, officers stopped a vehicle on Dunlop Street West near Anne Street.
Police say the female driver was arrested after she allegedly lied about her identity, and the male passenger was also taken into custody.
Officers say they seized a significant amount of fentanyl, cocaine and crystal meth. Along with the drugs, which had a street value of $40,000, police also say they recovered a prohibited weapon.
Drug and weapons charges were laid against a 38-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both of no-fixed address.
Police say the man was also charged with failing to comply with a release order because he was charged last week in connection with a search warrant executed at a Donald Street motel room in which officers seized a large amount of fentanyl, crack cocaine, heroin, as well as weapons.
At a bail hearing on Friday, the woman was released with a future court date and the man was remanded into custody.
