One person was taken to hospital for assessment following a Friday evening fire at an apartment complex at 108 Edgehill Drive in Barrie.

Ed Davis, deputy chief for Barrie Fire and Emergency Service, told Barrie 360 they were called to the location around 10 p.m.

Davis says the fire impacted only one unit, and the one individual, but water damage affected multiple units.

He added that the status of the person's injuries is unknown.

As well, the cause of the fire and damage total is not known, Davis says the fire marshal has been called in.
