Barrie Families Unite to take over reins for Glowing Hearts Charity

Glowing Hearts Community Give and Get store front closed but charity is still here

The storefront for Barrie’s “Glowing Hearts Community Give and Get” closed its doors on the weekend, but the charity itself will go on.

Barrie Families Unite (BFU), a Facebook group created in March 2020 to bring the community together, is taking over the reins to continue the work Glowing Hearts began years ago.

Nikki Glahn, founder of BFU says they were approached by Glowing Hearts last month. “They were at the point where they were thinking of dissolving the charity for a variety of reasons, but before that happened, they wanted to see if we were willing to take it over. It seems like a good evolution for our groups to merge.”

The next month will involve distributing the storefronts’ current inventory to other agencies. After that, Glahn says they will start talking to other organizations on providing services required in the community.

BFU is also looking to the community for continued support to help find ways to provide services going forward.

Whether there will be a storefront or pop up locations is to be determined. “We are entertaining all suggestions,” Glahn says.
