News Release - City of Barrie

The City of Barrie will be hosting two community engagement sessions for the public to provide input on preliminary design concepts for the performing arts centre proposed for the former Fisher Auditorium site at 125 Dunlop Street West in downtown Barrie.

Location:                    Peggy Hill Team Community Centre (171 Mapleton Avenue, Barrie)

Dates & Time:            Wednesday, April 19, 2023    4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

                                    Thursday, April 20, 2023        4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Feedback from the public will be used to inform the final recommended performing arts centre project, operational business case, and overall design.

A new downtown performing arts centre would act as a western anchor in building a downtown cultural corridor. A cultural corridor from Dunlop Street West to Dunlop Street East has the necessary elements to be a strong economic driver in the future development of the downtown, adding to the vibrancy of the area.

Members of the public who are unable to attend the engagement sessions will be able to review and email feedback on presentations via the City’s Performing Arts Centre Project webpage as of April 21, 2023.
