Barrie firefighters knocked down a garage blaze in the south end of town on Friday night.
Justin Gilbert, Assistant Deputy Fire Chief, says they received the call to Barre Drive at around 7 p.m.
Gilbert says the fire was contained in the garage, with some smoke damage to the house itself.
"There were some tenants that lived there," said Gilbert. "Only one was home at the time of the fire, and they were able to evacuate safely."
He added that the cause of the fire and the damage total is still being determined.
