Barrie Has Some New Millionaires

Husband and Wife Claim $25 million Jackpot

That winning lottery ticket sold in Barrie this month has been claimed.

Husband and wife Kenneth Beatty and Mona Gibson are Barrie’s latest millionaires, sharing $25,127625.50 from the January 8th draw.

Kenneth says he had to double-check more than once before jumping for joy. “I had to check six times, and then I had my wife check too,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their cheque. “It feels great – like this is a new chapter in life,” they concluded.

The couple have no plans for the winnings yet. The winning ticket was bought from the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Essa Rd. in Barrie.

Meanwhile, Tanya Verkerk is celebrating a big win, after matching six of seven Encore numbers on January 7th, winning $100,000. “I’ve been playing the lottery for about 20 years,” shared Tanya, a 44-year old mother of two.
