The Barrie and District Association of Realtors (BDAR) says home sales last month in the city were down 22 per cent compared to last year, as the average price for a home during September dropped 5.8 per cent from a year ago to $735,064.
Looking month-to-month, the BDAR says 179 homes sold in September in Barrie, which is 8.5 per cent more than in August. Despite this increase, the average sale price is down by nearly 24 per cent since February 2022.
New listings are "holding up remarkably well," according to the association, which it says is a good sign that sellers have not fled the market and are continuing to list their properties.
"Overall supply levels continue to increase from record lows, providing buyers with more selection within the region than experienced over the last 2 to 3 years," the BDAR said in its monthly report that was released on Thursday.
