The City of Barrie is advising of a full closure of the intersection of Huronia Road and Lockhart Road beginning on Thursday to allow for major culvert installations.
Traffic will not be permitted through the intersection during the closure, which runs until September 30. However, all businesses and residences will be maintained throughout.
The city says northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured via McKay Road and Victoria Street, Yonge Street, and Mapleview Drive East to Huronia Road. Meanwhile, eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured via Yonge Street, Mapleview Drive East, Huronia Road, Saunders Road and Rawson Avenue to Lockhart Road.

Thursday's closure will also place Transit ON Demand stops 977, 986, 979, and 978 out-of-service, while stops 973 and 974 will be temporarily reassigned to Zone T, with service limited to the Barrie South GO station.
The city says the work is part of its Multi-Modal Active Transportation Master Plan, which identifies
Huronia Road as a key corridor needed to support growth to 2031.
