Barrie police charged a man with impaired driving, among other charges after he was found slumped over in his vehicle on Tuesday evening.
Police say they received a report of a male slumped over in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running in the area of Lougheed Road and Athabaska Road.
Crews from Barrie Fire and County of Simcoe paramedics arrived and awakened the man. They spoke to him briefly until he fled on foot as police officers showed up.
Officers from the canine unit were able to track down the 38-year-old from Oro-Medonte down and subsequently arrested him with operation while impaired, failure to comply with demand, and driving under suspension.
The man was held for a bail hearing at Barrie Police Headquarters.
