The province is providing $26,559,000 in ice storm relief assistance to the City of Barrie and the Town of Innisfil.

Barrie will get the bulk of the funds ($26,194,00) to help cover clean-up and emergency costs in the wake of the ice storm last March.

"The City of Barrie faced some of the most significant impacts from the 2025 ice storm," said Doug Downey, MPP for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte in a news release on Thursday. "This funding will help support the cost of clean-up efforts and ensure that Barrie is able to rebuild stronger than ever."

Innisfil is receiving $365,000.

"The impact of the ice storm was experienced by the Town of Innisfil community members firsthand," Andrea Khanjin, MPP for Barrie-Innisfil, said in the news release. "This investment indicates our government's commitment to providing storm recovery resources, building necessary reinforcements, and ensuring resilience and emergency preparedness."

The funding is part of Ontario's $90 million Municipal Ice Storm Assistance program.

The storm knocked out power to almost 400,000 homes and businesses across central and eastern Ontario.
