
Police arrested a Barrie man today in connection to a report of a 16-year-old girl being lured and exploited through a social media app.
Detectives from the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit searched a local residence after receiving a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
"Emergency Orders with the internet service providers confirmed the identity and age of the victim, as well as the identity, age, and location of the accused," Barrie police officials wrote in a release.
A 43-year-old was arrested, charged, and held for a bail hearing.
"Several computer devices belonging to the accused were seized for further forensic analysis," police added.
"Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further details will be provided at this time."
