Barrie man arrested after ‘aggressive’ behaviour at RVH

Police say he is banned from returning to the hospital for one year unless he requires medical attention

Police say a 50-year-old Barrie man was arrested after a disruptive incident at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH).

Officers say on Monday at 5:21 p.m., hospital security was called to the food court where a man was reportedly yelling and screaming at other people in the area.

“His behaviour began to change, and he was becoming more aggressive,” police said in a release. “Security escorted him to a nearby exit where he continued to be uncooperative and tried to re-enter the hospital against their direction.”

Officers say the man was arrested for failing to leave the premises when directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.

Once police arrived, they removed him from the hospital grounds to a shelter where he was issued a Provincial Offences Act ticket under the Trespass to Property Act.

He was also issued a trespass notice and has been banned from returning to the hospital for one year unless he requires medical attention.
