A Barrie man is facing 68 criminal charges after a raid at an Innisfil home.
Barrie Police Service had backup from the OPP in taking the search warrant to the home, saying about $600,000 in illicit drugs was seized from the home, including cocaine, meth, and heroin said to contain fentanyl. Police spokesperson Peter Leon says this seizure is significant. “We know as a police service, those drugs have one destination: they’re going to make their way back to, not only the streets of Barrie, but the streets of Simcoe County. This is a significant dent in the drug trade in Simcoe County.”
A number of firearms were also seized while investigators also say six high-end vehicles were seized at the home; three Mercedes Benz cars, an Audi, and a brand new Toyota Tundra. “These vehicles were involved in the distribution and the trafficking of narcotics,” says Leon. “Law enforcement was able to seize those vehicles, they were part and parcel to the offenses to which the individual was charged with.”
A 28-year-old Barrie man was remanded in custody following a bail hearing this morning.
