The OPP say a Barrie man has been charged in connection to Project Weaver, an eight-month-long effort to shut down firearms and drug trafficking in southwestern Ontario.

On March 9, a series of search warrants were executed in areas including London, Brantford, Ancaster, and St. Thomas. A home on Barrie’s Dunsmore Lane was included in the search. At the time, police said no Barrie residents were arrested or charged. Since that series of raids was conducted, the OPP executed another search warrant in London. Evidence gathered there has led to the arrest of a Barrie man and the seizure of more than $1.8 million in illegal cannabis.

A 34-year-old Barrie man has been charged with making or possessing explosives, weapons possession and trafficking, among others. He was held in custody, with a first court appearance scheduled in London this week.
