A man was arrested and charged following two break-ins over two days at an office building on Mary Street in Barrie.
City police responded to a break-and-enter report to the building, just south of Dunlop Street West, yesterday at 5:52 a.m.
"Police were met by the building superintendent who led officers to an empty unit that the male had just entered after breaking a rear window to the building," Peter Leon, Barrie police corporate communications coordinator, stated in a media release.
"A short time later, a 36-year-old male of no fixed address was located barricaded in an apartment unit in the same building, and after utilizing several breaching tools, he was eventually taken into custody."

During the ordeal, Leon says the suspect threatened the superintendent and a confrontation happened but no injuries were sustained.
The suspect was taken to police headquarters where Leon says detectives confirmed he had failed to comply with five previous probation orders, dating back to March 2023, and was responsible for another break-and-enter at the same building on Sunday morning.
"This entry was captured on video surveillance and at the time of the report, his identity was not known," Leon added.
The accused has been charged with:
- Break, Enter a place – Commit Indictable Offence (2 counts)
- Utter threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (5 counts)
He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing later this week.
