A 61-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a break-in on Anne Street Thursday afternoon.

Barrie Police were called to the scene around 3:20 p.m. Thursday after staff from a local business reported seeing an unknown man breaking into a boat and smashing the windows of two vehicles parked on the property.

Within ten minutes of receiving the call, officers located the suspect nearby. He was taken into custody while police say the stolen property was recovered at the scene.

The investigation continued at Barrie Police headquarters, where the man has since been charged with theft Under $5,000, mischief Under $5,000, and breach of probation.

He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Barrie court in June.
