Investigators say there was never a threat to public safety

After a lengthy investigation regarding a reported sexual assault in Hurst Park in south Barrie, police have concluded there was never a threat to public safety.

The park is located on Hurst Drive near Big Bay Point Road.

At the time, police reported a woman was sexually assaulted on Oct. 1 while waking her dog between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the park. Police even released a sketch of a possible suspect.

In an update on Friday, police said the investigation was thorough, detailed and comprehensive, and respecting all parties involved, investigators have determined there was never a threat to public safety and as a result, there will be no further details or updates provided regarding the investigation.

Police thanked the public for their assistance in this investigation.
