Police have said a 30-year-old Barrie man was shot at close range and suffered serious injuries. He remains in the hospital.

Three people were arrested in Midland last week in connection with the shooting.

A 20-year-old Barrie man is facing 10 charges, including numerous firearm offences, as well as attempted murder and aggravated assault.

A 32-year-old Midland woman and a 23-year-old Barrie woman have been charged with being an accessory to attempted murder, while the younger female suspect has also been charged with theft.

As part of the investigation, police recovered a spent shell casing from the scene and a projectile that had gone into a glass window of a business across the street from the shooting. Investigators said there was assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search And Recovery Unit in recovering evidence from Kempenfelt Bay.

Anyone who recognizes the women or has information that could help is asked to contact the Barrie Police Major Crime Unit at 705-725-7025, extension 2160, or email tips@barriepolice.ca.
