17-year-old hits post in fast food drive-thru, charged with impaired driving

A second incident saw a driver leave the roadway and strike a hydro pole

Barrie police netted two motorists for impaired driving, including a 17-year-old who struck a post in the drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant.

On Sunday just before 2 a.m., officers responded to the incident at the restaurant on Bayfield Street.

Police say the youth from Angus faces impaired driving charges and will appear in Barrie court later this month.

The second incident occurred Monday morning shortly after 8:30 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a collision on Edgehill Drive after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

Police say the driver, a 35-year-old Barrie woman, wasn’t injured and was arrested at the scene after exhibiting signs of impairment.

She was charged with impaired operation and was released on an undertaking and is scheduled for Barrie court on March 22.

Both drivers had their vehicles impounded for seven days and were served 90-day driver’s licence suspensions.
