City provided an update Saturday regarding a shooting Friday in downtown Barrie where a woman was injured and airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
Barrie police say they were called to the area of Dunlop and Mulcaster Streets just before 5:00 p.m. for the reported shooting.
They say a 59-year-old woman sustained serious injuries but is in non-life-threatening condition after being sent down to Toronto.
Around 9 p.m., two police cruisers were parked at the back of a Dunlop Street East building in a parking lot known as Lakeshore Mews on Simcoe Street near Mulcaster.
Yellow police tape was strung across the entrance to a large alley between two buildings.
The investigation remains ongoing.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police," officers wrote in a release. "Further details will be permitted as the investigation permits."
Police add there is no risk to public safety.
