Officers responded to a plaza at Big Bay Point Road and Yonge Street around 8:00 p.m.

"A male had approached two women last night ... in the parking lot," Peter Leon, a Barrie Police Service spokesperson, told Barrie 360.

"He brandished a knife in the second incident and swung it, but the woman’s husband intervened and a fight ensued between the two."

Leon says a 54-year-old of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and failing to comply with a release order

He was held for bail after being transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
