City police say a man was arrested after a small axe was allegedly brandished during an argument in downtown Barrie.
On Monday around noon, Barrie police responded to the incident between two men at a parkade at 33 Collier Street.
"The argument reportedly intensified with one of the males pulling a small axe out of a bag and threatening the other male," police said in a release. "The argument concluded and both males left the area on foot."
Police say they located the man who was allegedly armed with the axe near the Five Points. He was taken into custody without incident
While they say the other man was found near Clapperton and Collier Streets, and officers say "he provided police with details of what had just taken place at the parkade."
A 64-year-old man from Alliston was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Barrie court in August.
