Driver arrested after pedestrian struck and killed: Barrie Police

'The involved driver was located a short distance away and has been arrested,' police say

Barrie police are investigating after a fatal collision Friday night.

Peter Leon, a spokesperson for the Barrie Police Service, told Barrie 360 that a pedestrian was struck and killed around 10:15 p.m. in the area of Big Bay Point Road and Leggott Avenue.

“The involved driver was located a short distance away and has been arrested,” Leon says.

He added that more details will be provided at a later time as the post-scene investigation remains ongoing.

The road was reopened just before 4:00 a.m.
