Barrie police say a man in his early 70s sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain last night.

Peter Leon, a Barrie Police spokesperson, told Barrie 360 the incident happened just before 10 p.m. in front of Sadlon Arena on Bayview Drive.

The victim was transported to hospital.

Leon says the suspect vehicle and driver are being sought.

The Barrie Police Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
