Barrie police have laid a total of 14 weapon and drug charges after they allegedly seized a loaded handgun from a man downtown.

Police say just after midnight on Sunday, in the area of Dunlop Street East and Mulcaster Street, officers noticed a male acting suspicious as he crossed the street and began walking "oddly" behind cars. The man met up with a female a short time later and got into what appeared to be a heated argument.

When police intervened, they noticed something concealed in the front area of his pants.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
