Barrie police arrested a suspect on Wednesday in connection with an arson investigation in Collingwood.

The blaze caused about $1 million in damage.

Initially, the fire was not considered suspicious.

Then, officials reviewed surveillance footage that raised concerns about the origin of the fire.

As part of the investigation, police say detectives reviewed surveillance video from the area and body-cam footage from officers.

Using these tools, police say they were able to identify a suspect connected to the fire and make an arrest.

The 34-year-old accused is charged with arson and damage to property.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on Thursday.
