Police say suspect is accused of using Instagram to create a fake account

An 18-year-old man is facing a number of charges following a lengthy investigation by the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

Police say an arrest was made on Dec. 22.

The suspect is accused of using Instagram to create a fake account and reaching out to several victims under the age of 18. Police say the victims were exploited into participating in explicit chats and requested explicit images. A computer device was seized for forensic analysis.

The teen is up on several charges, including luring a child and making sexually explicit material available to a child.  

He was later released and given a future court date.
